What do you use to test for body fluids pH? We are currently using the i-STAT. I would like to use a pH meter instead. Do you have any feedback or recommendations about using a PH meter?

I am not sure which fluids you are talking about. We use pH strips (waived) for gastric pH. A couple of units also have a Clinitek Status (also waived) for urine pH testing.
Pleural fluid.
We just moved away from a pH meter. It was hard to keep calibrated. We went back to pH paper.
I think iSTAT pH for BF would be off label use.
Yes it is! I am looking for alternatives.
As far as I know, the i-STAT is not approved or intended to be used for body fluid pH.
You have to have your own documentation of study and validation to report any of your body fluid pH by i-sTAT.
Follow Lab Developed Tests ( LDT) procedure if you would like to use the i-STAT for this test.
It also becomes high complexity if a procedure is used not for its intended purpose only.
WE use pH meter in the lab for body fluid pH.
For NG tube placement for gastric fluid we use pH strips.
Do you have any calibration issues with the pH meter?
WE do not have problem with the calibration on pH meter.
