POC Glu for Stroke Protocol

For those of you who have a stroke protocol in place, what are you doing in regards to the glucose meter being used as a first response in the protocol for those who are not diabetic?

I used the PXP glucose meter by Abbott and have always interpreted their intended use statement, "as an aid in monitoring the effectiveness of diabetes control programs," to mean that the meter is only used for diabetic patients and is not a hypoglycemic monitor for non-diabetics.

I agree with your interpretation.

Thanks for the confirmation Jean.   So I guess hospitals are requiring a lab glucose determination and getting the result out with 45 minutes of the stroke.
