Breathalyzer in the ED

I have a request for using a breathalyzer in the ED.  Anyone have experience with this type of request and any good reasons for saying no?

The Medical Director at my facility have requested the same thing, however, the lab manager said, we cannot have one because it isn't a blood component and cannot be monitored by the lab.

There is no 'specimen' so it won't fall under point of care.  My department doesn't have any involvement with the breathalyzers at our facilities.

It is a valid request for an emergency room, but lab shouldn't oversee it.  It is not classified as a lab test by CLIA because of the lack of a "specimen".  The ED would need to oversee it.
