Good Morning,
Does anyone know of a FDA approved waived rapid strep test that can be used for perianal swabs? There is a demand here for pedi clinics to rapidly diagnosis GAS due to consequences of PANDA - Pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorder associated with GAS and was hoping there is a product available.

Based on my knowledge, there isn’t any approved for perianal swabs.
I agree with Francisca. I don't think that any of our current kits have validated the use of perianal swabs. Sending a specimen to the lab for a culture is the best bet. They can probably use Group A Selective Strep Agar to isolate and possibly identify Strep A.
