We use the Nova Meter for Lactate.  It is Mod-complex test and can not use cap blood, only green top or whole blood.  I like it but you must understand the limitations.

Hi David, can you share what the limitations are for the Nova lactate?

Thank you,

K

Maria the CAP letter is the standard letter that will be used for all CAP accredited Laboratories.

Does anyone use the Epoc?  Is it waived or non-waived?   Looking for a waived alternative.  Sounds like the piccolo is the only other waived option.

We also pulled them immediately today. We wouldn t have known about the recall if one of our techs hadn't seen it on her Facebook group page!

There is a POCC Facebook Group page?

Tell me more! LOL

Caroline,

Just curious- and this has nothing to do with the primary concern which is covering the patient's needs - what the difference in cost is for the two cartridges for your institution?

Does Abbott and the distributor if you use one, guarantee that supplies will be sufficient for everyone seeking that solution?

Did you have to quickly write up a business case to get approval for the change in purchasing?

Good Luck to all!

Bummer, especially as fairly new Dept. Manager. Currently use CG3+ (Blue) for our ABG’s. Have bench top ABL 820 for pleural pH & co-ox, of which considering as alternative once able to possibly perform correlation testing with istats. Anyone with other suggestions for ABG testing?

We are going to use the EG6+ cartridge and disable the Na, K, and HH so that you only get the ABG portion.

Deborah,

We use the Epoc and it is a non-waived device.

Does anyone use the NOVA to run Lactates?  If so does it compare with the Lab and have you had any issues with it?

Does anyone have the original literature when I-STAT transitioned from the "white" Chem 8 cartridge to the "Blue" Chem 8 cartridge?

I do.

Where did you get that information from? would you please share
