Just wondering are there any other respiratory therapist that are POCC at their facility? Also does anyone else's facility have 2 CLIA/CAP numbers? Our pulmonary lab and our regular lab are considered 2 separate labs. We run ABGs, Co-ox, and pleural pHs in the pulmonary lab.

Yup, that's what they're telling everyone. I had a call with a Regional VP, and that's what he said as well. I'm thinking we all need to listen and not hope that things will "work out". We just need to convince our hospital administrations that this is a necessary, though painful, step.
Yep the creator of the iSTAT is the same person who created EPOC. You don't have to store EPOC cartridges in a cooler, but they have a shorter shelf life. I think the cartridge is slightly bigger than the iSTAT cartridge. Currently looking at all the advantages and disadvantages.
Is EPOC cheaper than iSTAT?
Not certain cause we never used Istat, but from what I hear it is more expensive.
In my experience Epoc has always been cheaper than i-STAT, both for the devices and for the reagents. However, that's going to depend on your GPO and if you have other products from either company.
Hi Tom,
We too are looking to switching from i-Stat to Epoc. Would you please share your SOP and IQCP.

Thank you in advance!
