Question can i use istat to correlate with Epoc. since there is issue with the blue card for Chem8 and CG4, can i still uset it for correlation. We are accredit by CLIA, i called them and see waht they can say, CLIA say they cannot advice me about it I am concernned about my correlation because i don't have anything else beside the Istat to correlate. Any advice please!
I would consult with my pathologist on this. We actually correlate with the Lab analyzer, even though it is a bit more strenuous and different sample types. Our thinking is to ensure continuity for result interpretation or to establish any bias that the Dr's should be aware of. For example the lactate's are very sensitive to "tweeks" from siemens. When mmol/l are uses for reporting units small changes can mean a lot at decision levels. This process also gives us flags to send to the vendor (even though the response sucks) when we see a shift and gives us a check on the gen lab as well. Sometimes its not siemens but a lab problem.
We will use the Chem 8 and CG4 to correlate our new devices (Epoc and ChemSTAT). We have years of data on this at many of our sites. For the ED UC, we don't have a lab instrument to compare to, as it is free-standing.
