Does any of my iSTAT peeps use MediTech? I would like to pick your brain about eGFR. Thanks.

What's up Ashley?  I use i-Stat, QML and Meditech.

David,

 How does your facility handle eGFR calculations that are "unable to calculate" due to age conflict. Currently, anyone under age is simply not calculated which leaves the order in a Pending Status. This is going to be very problematic in the future because the order will never be completed. I should also note that we have disabled the calculation on the iSTAT. Our eGFR calculation is handled by Meditech. Any insight is very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Ashley

You can set it up in Meditech to NP or TNP results after so many hours. Are you working in Expanse or not?

Jillian,
I am not working in Expanse.

Awesome, then you can for sure TNP or NP the results after so many hours in the dictionary.

Ashley this is the Meditech logic we use for GFR.

;to calculate the GFR when a serum creatinine is ordered.
;if the patient is female the result is multiplied by 0.742.
;if the patient is african american the result is multuplied by 1.212.
;if the patient is under 20 years the result will add comment GFRAGE.
;to test the calculation:
;http://www.nkdep.nih.gov/healthprofessionals/tools/gfr adults.htm
[f pt age]^AGE,
IF{[f pt race]="B" 1.212;1}^RC,
IF{[f pt sex]="F" 0.742;1}^SEX,
ISTCRE^CRE,
175*([f fcn power](CRE,"-1.154"))*([f fcn power](AGE,"-0.203"))*SEX*RC^RES,
IF{[f pt age lt](20,0,0) ";$GFRAGE";
RES>60 ">60";RES}^RES,
RES;

Jillian: Thank you that worked!

David: Thank you. I am comparing ours now.
