Is anyone using the Abbott BinaxNOW Covid-19 Ag cards? My facility is looking to implement these in our clinics. Pros or Cons? Easy to implement? Do your users like or dislike them? Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

Which cards will you be using?  Our Micro dept uses them.

Covid-19. Sorry, I didn't realize I left that part out.

We ar not using Binax for COVID.  We were using Binax for Legionella, Flu and RSV.  The test is simple and easy to use. The Micro staff said there wasn't anything to dislike they can think of.  As for implementation, they had no problems.

Thank you, Sherilyn!

You may want to read these 2 articles as there are limitations of this test in asymptomatic people:

We currently use BinaxNow COVID-19 cards for employee testing in our long term facilities.  They are pretty easy to use and user friendly.  Sample collection is less invasive then some of the other tests, but there are limitations.  Samples are suppose to be collected between 3 and 5 days of onset of symptoms.  As you know, some patients are a symptomatic. In addition the patient needs to have a high viral load.  There have been cases where the card has been negative and the patients PCR has ended up being positive.  Overall, they are nice for quick testing and it seems like if the patient has symptoms and they test early on they are accurate.

We have been using BinaxNow kits for about 6 months for screening our skilled nursing facilities and direct admits to our behavioral health unit.  Very easy to train, use and results  are available in 15 minutes.  Only warning I have is Do Not lose the bottle of extraction fluid!  Each box comes with one bottle of fluid - enough for all 40 tests in the box, but if it is lost, you aren't able to obtain another bottle and  must throw away the rest of the tests in the box.
