Clinitek Status and barcoding QC

We have occasional issues with users scanning the hCG cartridge as the QC/strip canister as the QC, etc. How does anyone address this? Do you change the ID in Telcor or have users rerun to correct it? Thanks!

Tell them to pay attention to the prompts. We have the same issues with staff not reading the prompts and scanning the expiration date and the QC lot number, etc. If the person did not rerun the QC as the correct lot number, then you could go into the Result Repository and edit it to the correct lot number. However, this person(s) need to be educated on the issue so that they understand the added time needed to correct their error(s).
Do you have the current software that allows you to set up barcode formatting?
Our only option is enable or disable the barcode reader (I did look awhile ago). We have the CT Status+. We do continuously educate staff, but this analyzer lets you scan anything ;)
Oh yeah, totally agree. The analyzer will let you scan anything. The things that people scan ... LOL. I have yet to see a QR Code accepted by a Clinitek, but .....
Ahhh. Okay. The new software will allow you to set up barcode formats. We do this for patient MRNs.
Upgrading firmware on these is pretty easy. Simple as putting in a USB, hitting a couple buttons and waiting. Worth it to get the barcode masking that Danielle mentions.
And the firmware upgrade would configure barcoding for the QC? Not just patient barcodes?
Yes, then you would have options in settings to mask barcodes for QC and patients both.
