Do any of your Emergency Departments currently perform CBCs or Chem 12s within the ED itself?
I have been asked to investigate instrumentation for such a scenario.

No, sorry Pam. In more than 20 years we never considered running those tests under POC in our EDs.
We first trialed Chem 8 in urgent care settings and decided for ED the chemistries needed to go to lab.

Hi Pam. We have 2 freestanding ER's and we have a Sysmex POCHi instrument to perform CBC's and the Piccolo instruments for the chemistries. The Piccolo does have some waived cartridges, but if you want to have Lactic Acid testing, that panel (MetLac 12) is non-waived. Those labs are run by nursing staff or Radiology staff and we have not had any issues. Hope that helps!

Hi Pam. We no longer have Chem POC in the main hospital EDs. All are sent to main lab.
In the Freestanding EDs, we have the same instrumentation as Ashlee.
