How are your POCT offices set up?

Good morning everyone,

We want to maximize our workflow and workspace. We're currently overflowing with supplies, devices, and trying to accommodate "clean space" for staff members to work on the computer. We have most of our supplies centrally located.

Would love to know how your offices are set up as inspiration for our spring cleaning/organization.

Many thanks!

We have a clean office space and a dirty workroom. Our supplies are stored in the laboratory storerooms and refrigerators. Good luck with the spring cleaning. We did the same thing about a year ago. It was very cathartic.

We have an office housed with our computers where we work much of the time.  We have our own laboratory room across the hall where all of our equipment and supplies are housed.  We had to be cited during one of our Joint Commission surveys for not having enough space in order for them to agree to give us the old research laboratory.  We were told if you clean it you can have it.  We are right sized now for a staff of two FTE and occasional per diem help.

I feel your pain lol.  We have our desks and supplies in the POCT office along with 2 fridges for POCT supplies.  We have 4 metal 4-5 shelves each Metro carts on wheels where we keep the majority of our room temp supplies and spare instruments.  That has allowed us alot of versatility for space.  Since most of the POCT supplies for the units are kept here it allows us to quickly see when something is getting low.  Space in most labs are at a premium so anything you can do to go up for storage vs low and wide will help.

Oh how I long for an office... My desk at the main campus is literally in the lab along the back wall along with the other tech specialists. I'm currently looking at the back of the chem analyzer and have 3 fridges about 3 feet behind me!

My central stock of room temp supplies for units to come and take from is on a large set of built in shelves right as you walk into the lab. The only things I have back by my desk are 2 spare glucometers and iSTATs. I do have lots of shelves and an
extra counter behind my desk. I invested in some storage containers last year for all those cords and junk that were just
collecting dust. Got a bunch of bins for expired cartridges/qc so myself or educators can easily grab and go. I really
cleaned out a lot of junk and it was great!
