AVOX 1000e interface

We currently have 4 AVOX 1000e instruments and manually record the QC results and patient results.  We have Meditech and RALS but this device isn't currently interfaced to either.  We would like to ensure results are being properly documented and interfacing is always the easiest way to eliminate transcription errors.  Currently, we do not add a charge for the oxyhemoglobin reported.

1.  If you interface your device, how does that work with the AVOX only having numeric keys?  Our Patient IDs and Operator ID badges both have an alpha component.

2. Do you charge for the oxyhemoglobin result, if so which CPT code?  Or is it included in the test procedure?

We do not have RLAS, but we use QML and have our Avox 1000E interfaced. QML allows for an "alias" operator ID by instrument type. So, if the operator is S12345, we would add an alias in QML that says for the Avox only, operator 12345 is equal to S12345.  I wonder if RALS might have something similar? Our patient MRNs have numbers, but we use the CSN (encounter number) for our POC testing, which is numeric only.

All of the Avox charges are included in the procedure.  The results all go to the patient record, but there is a zero charge.

Good luck!

Is QML just a different type of Middleware/UI?

Hello,
So for those folk that do have Avox1000 interfaced, the device is uni-directional and MUST be plugged in the jack when running a test. If there is an issue with connectivity, the result cannot be resent from the Avox, as there is no option to resend a result.
Does anyone ever have issues with this?  Just wondering?

Leslie- Yes, Telcor QML is our data management system, similar to RALS.
Wendy- The device is uni-directional, but we have successfully resent tests. If you "print" results it resends them. You need to know which test number you are needing as it will resend in reverse chronological order. I think that QML just tosses the rest out as duplicate testing.  We try to only use it when it is hardwired, but on occasion, the cath lab needs to move them around.
