Blind sample portion of competency for Medtronic ACT Plus instrument

We have been using the liquid QC and running this as a blind sample during competency for employees on the ACT Plus instrument. I'm finding that this really goes through a lot of QC material when doing this and would like to know what others are using for a blind sample. We have a total of 40 employees who perform this testing so they would all need to run the sample. Anyone have any other ideas on what we could use other than the liquid QC to accomplish this? Also, due to staffing and workload it is hard to get with multiple employees all at the same time, meaning we are using more materials to meet this element of competency. Obviously something cost effective would be ideal.
Thanks!
Thanks!

We also use Normal QC material as the "blind sample" for competency. I have not found a better alternative. One vial will allow for 2 tests so I just always try to do atleast 2 people at once, but that doesn't always happen.
We use some expired A1C blood control samples. They are already in squeeze bottle droppers. There is no endpoint (>400 seconds) but we are just checking their competency to use the instrument/sample application.
If you look at the ACT Heparin Linearity procedure in the ISTAT system manual, they have a procedure to use pooled citrated whole blood samples and spiking with CaCl2 to activate. Not sure if this would work with your method. You would need to establish a target range.
