Covid Rapid Antigen Testing - QC?

Is anyone else using some of the  Covid -19 rapid antigen tests that are meant for home use, in their facilities for screening? If so, are you running external QC and where are you getting it from?
We are at the mercy of what our Department of Health sends us, and we've gotten kits from 4 different manufacturers over the last year, which involves a lot of rework (new policy, training, etc). However, only the Abbott BinaxNow kits came with a positive control.
I feel like each shipment should at least be checked, but I'm not sure with these waived tests that do not come with any QC if I have to. We are CAP accredited.
Thanks for your advice!

The CAP requirement for frequency of QC is as per manufacturer's recommendation. If they do not recommend performing external controls at a specified frequency it would not be required. Check with your local regulatory requirements if more stringent criteria exists.

Hi,
CAP link for COVID testing -https://www.cap.org/laboratory-improvement/news-and-updates/guidance-for-covid-19-testing-for-cap-accredited-laboratories.
This is directly from the above link from CAP- Please take a look
"Your laboratory may perform external quality control less frequently than the CLIA default frequency (ie, two levels of QC each day of testing) without an individualized quality control plan (IQCP), as long as the laboratory performs QC at least as frequently as stated in the manufacturer’s package insert.".
Maybe you could use the CAP survey (Antigen) Survey-there is usually at least one positive.

Can you organization contract with one of the testing platforms? - Abbott or Quidel (Our organization uses the Quidel Sofia 2 for COVID Ag Testing, COVID/Flu A&B Combo and RSV.  We are a small community based hospital ~125 beds with 3 Express Care Centers)

I think COVID is here to stay...
Good Luck

Thank you both for the advice and the links to guidance. You are right - I keep hoping Covid will go away, but I agree - I think it is here to stay. We do use several platforms for PCR and rapid Covid testing, including the Quidel Sofia2 at our clinics and drive-thru sites. We are taking advantage of the free kits the WI DHS sends us for our inpatient and employee screening, and we seem to get yet another new test kit every few months! It is keeping me on my toes!
