Hello - I'd be appreciative if anyone with experience putting this test out in urgent cares is willing to zip me a line or two. The Infectious Disease Dept Chair/Head of Epidemiology is rolling out a 'test to treat' protocol very quickly into 6 Urgent Care Clinics (they are 10 hr/7 dys/week.
I am feeling rolled over!
All the covid testing thus far has been contained within the lab confines (even the POC Molecular). Testing personnel have been laboratorians.
Much thanks in advance for tidbits.

We have Roche LIAT established in my ED and my ambulatory clinics. My urgent care center is also asking for the LIAT to perform the molecular COVID, RSV, Flu A, B, and Strep. The COVID and Flu are one cartridge; RSV and Flu another cartridge, and Strep a third cartridge. It is practically no maintenance on the instrument. My RNs and MAs use it without issues. Results are ready in 20 minutes for COVID, flu, RSV and 15 minutes for Strep. Please feel free to reach out if you want more details. Validation can be done as quick as 5 working business days.
I already have 150+ ID NOW instruments throughout urgent cares and fam med/Peds just not doing covid on them. We have ID NOWs in clin labs running the covid reagent.
This is another ballgame that got started in the same ballpark ;-).
But thanks!
Appreciate your support.
Peggy
We have had ID Now Covid testing available in our ER and UC for some time now being performed by the units themselves. We also use Sofia Ag testing at our clinics along with some using the BinaxNow Covid cards being performed also by the units. If you have any specific questions, feel free to reach out to me at jessica.jenkins@nationwidechildrens.org.

We instituted Binax Now early on in the pandemic, as the state gave the kits to the hospitals. We're not using it so much any more. I've sent a bunch of documents to your email--procedure, checklist, learning program, QC sheet, etc. Please let me know if you have any questions.
We began using BinaxNow rapid kits early in the pandemic. Abbott has great training videos you can show for training. We have nurses, Vocational nurses and Emergency Techs performing the test. Each site performs QC every 30 days. The only problem we have encountered is that each box only contains one bottle of reagent, so if it is lost they cannot perform any additional tests from that box of 40 tests. The reagent bottle is treated like it contains liquid gold. Some sites even lock it up!
