Training/Competencies for the POCC

Does your facility have a separate training/competency form for the Point of Care Coordinator for all instruments? Or do you just use the same training/competency forms as other staff? What about when a new POCC comes in..... do you have the vendor sign them off? Or does your Medical Director sign them off?

Anyone have POCC specific training/competency forms they are willing to share?

For new POCC training, we have an orientation checklist that is signed off by the training POCC and then given to the supervisor. 
For orientation/competency of POCCs, we use the same forms we use for everyone else.

I am not familiar with your state law; but since POCC is not supposed to run and report Patient test/QC, There us no need for annual/ biannual  competency in my state. I would think that there should be a general initial checklist for new POCC that proves he or she is trained and competent to perform POCC duties. Our jobs is to train/ audit and not to run / report patient test.

It would depend on if the POCC is going to actually be performing testing on patient specimens. For myself, 2 of the labs I oversee I am their TC but do not perform any sort of patient testing. They are CLIA accredited and so the medical director of each of those clinics fills the attached form out on me at the required intervals. This form actually came from CLIA. If doing patient testing then I would think you would use the regular check off sheets used for everyone else.
