Accuchek Inform II verse Nova Stat Strip

Hello all!
Our Accuchek Inform II contract runs out next year and so just trying to get some ideas if we will switch or not. Personally I do not have any issues with the Accuchek but there are some things I have been shown about the Stat Strip that I like (ie. strip in the bottom, basically drop-resistant, etc.) Thoughts from all of you? Have any of you switched from Accuchek to Nova? I really do not want to take on a huge project of switching unless it is absolutely worth it. Thanks in advance!

We transitioned from Accuchek to Nova StatStrip in July 2021. It was a large project but it went pretty smoothly. Nova reps were very responsive and provided a lot of support for validations and training. The attached notice from Roche made it an easy decision for us to switch. Roche "decided not to resubmit the 510(k) application to no longer pursue a critically ill claim for Accuchek.... This means the system has not received FDA clearance for use with patients receiving intensive medical intervention therapy." All of this being said, I love the Novas. They are easy to use, smaller, and the screen functionality is better. The only con I have is the way to configure the devices if you need to get a new one is more difficult than the Accuchek. It requires more work than just docking it.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I'm happy to help!

I've been told the new Roche glucose meter will be released end of this year or early next year. This one will have the same FDA clearance as the Nova (so I'm told). Am waiting to see it before making the decision to change glucose meters. I'm hoping it lives up to the early hype.

We, too, switched to the Nova StatStrip analyzers in March 2018 and have been very satisfied with the 1) transition 2) ease of use 3) WiFi connectivity 4) instrument accuracy and 5) light & small footprint. The touchscreen is easy to use, 6 seconds for a result. The issues we have had are 1) small size may cause them to walk away in someone's pocket (accidentally or not) 2) It easily breaks when dropped; just like your cell phone. and 3) commonly the operator has an error because they failed to load the strip all the way in the entry opening slot.

Keith- I was told by the Nova rep that they were pretty resistant to breaking because they were made with very strong material- I can't remember what she said it was. This is not the case?
