Employee failed written competency, but passed direct observation

Hi all,
I'm new to the Point of Care world and have a question. We have an employee that failed their written competency, but passed their direct observation. Other than verbally going over all of the questions and correct answers with the employee, can the same quiz be issued again and attached to the original, to make sure they understand the correct answers? Or should an alternative written quiz be given with different questions? I want to make sure we are covering all of our bases. Thank you!

I would go over all the relevant points again with the employee, with a "retraining" checklist, and then give them the same quiz again if possible, to show that they now have the information they need.
We also have POCT lessons as part of annual recertification. If someone fails the quiz 5 times, they must reach out to the POC coordinators. We recommend that the employee review the lesson before trying the quiz again.
That's sounds great, Terry. Our in-house nurse competencies were just added to Health Stream and we are loving it so far, minus a few quirks. We are hoping to move forward with adding our offsite locations to our Learning Management System as well. These are great points you brought up that we can implement for when we get to that. Thank you so much, Terry!
