Cord blood gases

Hello, do the cord gases at your facility post under mom’s chart or baby’s chart?  What if baby doesn’t have a registration at the time of the test?  Thank you!

We post ours under the mom. If there are multiple births we enter the identifiers as a comment (baby A, Girl B)

Good Morning! We post ours under baby.  We had a system workgroup surrounding the process and we feared regulatory complications with posted baby cord gases under mom's account.  Our babies get a "pre admit" registration CSN in EPIC and those are what is scanned for the cord gases.  Once baby is officially born, registration updates that record with the baby name.  If there is an emergent birth, we use the normal emergency process where they scan an "emergency code" and then we get the results to the correct chart later that day.  All cord gases are done POC, so they have the results away, no matter which process is used.

We post under the mom's account.

We put ours under the infant. We use cord blood for blood bank testing and the results are in as the baby type, we also use cord blood for drug screening again the results are under the baby chart, same with genetic testing from the cord blood.  This prevents confusion.  If the infant is not registered we have a "code" that is used until it is registered. As Mary stated, because it is POC if there is any delay they can print the result.

We put ours under the baby.
