One of my clinics was having an issue with getting their Quantimetrix Dropper Plus Control level 2 in on the Clinitek Status Connect. When they called Siemens technical support they were told that the Dropper controls are not the ones they recommend using. They said that the dippers are better to use for the Clinitek Status Connect. When I looked at the Customer Bulletin is talks about errors based on the control of the control and the ID band strip causing an error and not a control failing. Has anyone else been told that? Who is using the Dropper vs Dippers. Multistix Controls CUST-00737-EDG_2.pdf
We only use the dropper for upreg and refractometer controls. Since the controls are supposed to be performed as patient testing (we are under CAP), we utilize a dipper type of control for UA testing.
We were also told by Siemens, several years ago, that they didn't recommend the Dropper controls. We were troubleshooting QC errors and since they didn't recommend the product, they wouldn't offer much assistance. We switched our offices to the Dipper product so we would get more support if we needed assistance troubleshooting. They are less user friendly because you have to count the number of times a reagent strip is dipped (max 20) to comply with manufacture guidelines. Open expiration dates (without respect to number of uses) are much easier to manage.
We've been using the dropper + with our Cliniteks for quite a few years. I don't know if this will help or not but we always tell our operators to start with the glucose tab and drag the sample down the strip and to not get sample on the first tab if they can help it. Also, make sure they are putting the QC on after they hit start.... even to this day we have people who will dose the strip and then hit start and that they have updated the ranges in the Clinitek for new lots.
I agree, if possible avoid the first tab and HIT start only after putting the QCs as dry chemistry interactions start as soon as the solutions touches the strip.
So the ranges were not entered in correctly into the Clinitek so that is why the controls were not passing. I find that ranges not being updated is the reason why these controls do not pass since they are very stable.
