ISTAT Celite ACT linearity and shortage of Calcium Chloride!

Help!

I perform the ISTAT celite ACT heparin linearity check twice yearly post software upgrade. I was notified by my purchasing department that the vendor I use for Calcium Chloride 0.025M needed in Abbotts procedure 714547-OOH Rev date 18-Oct-2021 is not available.

Does anyone have a supplier for this item? I have reached out to Abbott but no response yet.

Thank you!

What do you use the calcium chloride for? When I perform our ACT heparin response studies I spike my donor blood with heparin across the AMR, but I don't use calcium chloride for anything... I tried to look up the policy you referenced out of curiosity and couldn't immediately find it online.

Hi Ken,

Can you send me your procedure for the spiking process? The SOP I am refering to is on the Abbot website.

Ken,

Here is ISTAT procedure using calcium chloride for linearly.

Share what procedure you use.
Thank you.

Interesting! So you're using citrated blood!
I use whole blood with no additive straight into glass tubes that have already been loaded with heparin. I used the ITC correlation protocol (for the Hemochron Sig Elite) from 2006 to make our facility's policy a few years ago; I've done seven or eight of these studies now. Sending it to you through the private message part of this site.
