Delegation Policy for competency assessments

Does anyone have a delegation policy or chart for instances where employees other than the POCT Manager are the ones assessing competency for non-waived testing personnel that they are willing to share? I know the employees must meet the requirements of a Technical Consultant in order to be able to perform this task. I was just wondering if anyone has an actual policy in place for this or just a form signed by the Medical Lab Director indicating who can assess competency. If you do have a policy, is it a separate policy from your laboratory delegation policy for POCT or are they all included together?

I do utilize a form that is signed by the medical laboratory director prior to assessing competency. This form is reference in a policy as needing to be completed. I have found that it provides guidance to the technical staff on how to perform competency assessments. If you would like a copy, send me your email and I will share with you.

AACC published a Point of Care Testing: How To Guide for the Non-Laboratorian and it is really good. There are 'addenda' on the site including a Technical Consultant Document you might like.
