Aloha all,
Happy New Year!
We are a Women and Children's hospital where glucometers are only performed by our RN's in house, we are currently looking at also including our Clinical Assistants.
Could you please share your workflow? for normal results? critical result notification and process?
Are they allowed to run on all units or select units?
Mahalo,

We have both nurses and non-nurses (MA's, NA's, ED techs, patient safety companions etc) doing POCT glucoses and they are on each unit. For POCT policy, critical results the value must be given to a care giver, either a nurse or physician and the name of that person should be entered into EPIC. We don't have them enter any documentation into the glucometers because they can't enter the specific name of the person they gave the result to. Nursing policy has them giving the result to a physician. We do audit the process and it's a work in progress shall I say lol.
